During our first article, we talked about the importance of participating in the social networks. We also talked about how you must have social accounts if you are to succeed at all at Internet marketing. These two points took us to the reality of having to managing the arduous tasks of participating in these social site communities every day. We boiled this management down to three basic functions which are sharing, growing, and responding. We then recommended sharing a unique post and someone else's post every single day. This should be done by interacting once during the mid-morning and once in the late afternoon or evening. Now let's talk about the next basic function which is growing. Never forget that you have to be persistent with your social accounts. You will not see results overnight. We say this now because it takes quite a while to build a big following and a big community on these accounts. If you stick with it, you will be rewarded handsomely. You will reach a point where you can recommend a link and then get thousands of clicks to that link within minutes.
This means that you spend time responding to posts and comments that others have shared with you.
This is true influence. In order to grow your following, you need to start following others every single day. As you do this, they will reciprocate and follow you in return. Get in the habit of doing this every day. Do not go hog wild and follow hundreds and hundreds every time you sign on as this will get your account suspended. Follow a few people here and there. You can also join groups and communities in your niche which will induce other like-minded people to follow you as well. Incidentally, remember in the first article we mentioned how it may be more difficult to share using YouTube due to a lack of videos? This is not the cause in growing your following on YouTube. The third function we mentioned was responding. This means that you spend time responding to posts and comments that others have shared with you. It means that you become friends with and follow people who asked you first. This means that you go out and find posts, tweets, and videos you like and then comment about them. These types of activities may well be the most important of all in regards to building a big following and community. In a nutshell, I recommend that you sign on to your social accounts once in the mid-morning and perform these three functions and then repeat the process again in the late afternoon or evening. I created a grid on my spreadsheet to keep track of all this. You will find that you can complete all this less than an hour easily after you get it going.

You’re not alone; many small business owners are confused about how to blend social media into their business. You might have signed yourself up for LinkedIn or Facebook but you find yourself wondering if social networking really works. Then, weeks go by and you keep hearing about how important social media is to growing your business but aren’t quite sure what next step to take. Have a special anniversary for your company coming up? Mention it on social media. Be sure to give high-content value, too. When you schedule regular content on social media you become more visible and increase your credibility as the go-to person for your product and/or services. 4. Notice trends. Do you see a trend happening in your business? For example, you’re a residential contractor and have a slew of customers wanting bids for renovating their bathrooms. Hold a “Worst Looking Bathroom” contest asking your social media contacts to submit a picture or a video of their worst looking bathroom. Write a blog about the top five things to consider when remodeling your bathroom and update your status on social media with a link to your article. Determine your call to action: Ask them to submit their pictures and/or videos to your social media page and anyone who does will be eligible for a coupon (or whatever you decide to provide).
On a chosen date, pick a winner for 10% off of their bathroom redo. Post the winner. After the remodel, post before and after pictures detailing your work and highlighting your satisfied customer. 5. Interweave your Marketing Strategies. Let’s assume you have a new product launch. List your social media page in your traditional press release. Indicate that additional information about the product will be included on your social media site. 6. Flowchart Your Social Media Funnel.
